My eleventh Amish-Country Mystery is now available both as an electronic book (Kindle, Nook, Kobo, iPad and other electronic readers worldwide) and as an Amazon paperback at this link: English Shade. All of my usual English characters have returned for this story, but Bruce and Missy Robertson have retired and moved to Florida, and Ricky Niell has recently been elected sheriff. So I have had some fun putting familiar characters into new roles. The story is based on the first three verses of Isaiah, Chapter 30, and also on Isaiah, Chapter 3. It is the story of the struggles of Old Order Amish Bishop Small Henry Rupp to reconcile the demands of his strict Amish religious convictions with the temptations for commerce and modernism that so strongly exist in Holmes County, Ohio. It is on his heart that he must rescue his people from the perfidious influences of English culture, and the solution that he has devised will surprise Amish and English people alike. But two of Small’s congregants have been keeping secrets from their bishop, and murders ensue. Sheriff Niell will need the help of all of his people to sort this out, but before much can be done, agents of the FBI intrude.
